Your Online ADHD Mentor for Teens and young adults UK
Who am I?
Hello! My name is Emily. I hold a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Clinical Psychology, along with over three years of experience in a neurodevelopmental service supporting children, young people, and families with traits of Autism and ADHD.
As someone who is dyslexic and has ADHD, and as I await my own Autism assessment, I understand firsthand the challenges posed by long assessment waitlists and the decrease in support during the transition to adult life. I am passionate about facilitating this transition and helping individuals develop the skills needed to navigate the new challenges that adulthood may bring.
Why I mentor?
I was diagnosed with ADHD when I turned 18, and that diagnosis brought a wave of understanding to a lifetime of feeling different. As a kid and teen, I often found myself struggling with things that seemed simple for my classmates. Like the time I left my flute on a bus, leading my mom to make a two-hour trip just to get it back. Or those countless hours spent daydreaming in class, staring blankly out the window and suddenly realising that I’d missed the first few minutes of instruction (or maybe the whole lesson!).
These moments, while frustrating, pushed me to look for ways to make things work better for me. I went on a journey of self-discovery, trying out different strategies until I found what clicked. Through this process, combined with my background and hands-on experience, I’ve developed a toolbox of techniques that I use in my mentoring sessions.
Being diagnosed later in life often meant I was left without the support needed to develop coping skills and discover effective strategies for managing my challenges. This journey often felt isolating and disorienting. With ‘ADHD Mentoring with Emily,’ I aim to ensure that no one else has to navigate these feelings of loneliness and confusion. The search for solutions can be a winding path of trial and error, but it’s important to remember that each step taken is a part of the learning process. You don’t have to face these struggles on your own; support and understanding are here for you as you find what truly works.
My approach to mentoring
I provide flexible and supportive ADHD mentoring online for individuals across the UK. My approach combines professional insight, lived experience, and evidence-based strategies to help you or your child better understand ADHD and develop practical tools for everyday life. All mentoring sessions take place over Zoom and are completely tailored to your goals — whether that’s improving focus, managing overwhelm, or navigating school or work life with more confidence.
How I mentor?
My main focus is on Executive Functioning support and skills development, where I often use worksheets and visual aids. I want to help others see and implement strategies that are tailored to fit their unique situations and needs, without feeling so alone.
Like a lot of neurodivergent people, I have a love for creativity, in particular, graphic design. I use this in my mentoring to create visuals and takeaway resources specific to you, your interests and what works for you. These are all included in the price of sessions and allow you to work away with resources that help you remember and use everything we’ve worked on
My sessions are conducted online on a weekly basis. We begin with a free consultation, followed by a one-hour assessment session where I gather pertinent background information and gain an understanding of the specific needs you wish to address. For children and young people, parents can choose to be present for the entire session, part of it, or not at all, depending on the preferences of the young person. Parents are welcome to share their thoughts and concerns during the consultation.
After the assessment, sessions are typically 30 or 45 minutes each. I ask that you commit to a minimum of six sessions initially, as this allows for structured planning and comprehensive coverage of the skills discussed in the assessment. Following these initial six sessions, we can extend our work in blocks of three sessions or determine an appropriate time to conclude. Additionally, I am open to discussing ad hoc sessions as needed once the initial commitment is complete.
