Confidentiality and data protection policy

Your safety, confidentiality, and privacy are essential to my mentoring practice. As an ADHD mentor working with children, teenagers, and adults online across the UK, I follow clear safeguarding procedures and data protection standards. This includes compliance with UK GDPR and ICO registration, ensuring your personal information is handled responsibly and respectfully.

1. Who I am

Hi! I’m Emily. I provide online ADHD/ Executive Functioning mentoring for young people aged 14–24. I care deeply about creating a supportive, respectful and confidential space.

2. What I collect

To provide mentoring, I collect:

  • Your name and contact details (and your parent/guardian’s, if you’re under 18)

  • Session notes (goals, observations, progress, skills covered in our sessions)

  • Info you choose to share (e.g., ADHD traits, challenges at school, work or home)

3. Why I collect it

To:

  • Plan and deliver personalised mentoring

  • Keep sessions safe, relevant, and helpful

  • Communicate with you (general communication, invoices, receipts, etc.)

  • Share resources or information relevant to the sessions with you

  • Meet legal and tax obligations

4. How I keep it safe

  • All data is stored securely and password-protected

  • Notes are kept in One Drive

  • I do not keep paper-based records

  • I never share your info unless required by law or if there's a safeguarding concern (see below)

5. If you're under 18

If you're aged under 18, I may:

  • Ask for parental/guardian consent before mentoring starts

  • Involve a parent/guardian in communication if there's a serious risk to your safety

That said, mentoring sessions remain confidential unless I believe you or someone else is in danger.

6. Your rights

You can:

  • Ask to see, update, or delete your data

  • Withdraw your consent at any time

7. Data retention

I keep session records for up to 6 years, in line with standard legal and professional requirements, unless you ask for them to be removed and I’m legally allowed to do so.

8. Third parties

If you use my booking, video or payment platforms (e.g. Zoom, Stripe, Calendly, Acuity Scheduling), they may collect limited data. Each has its own privacy policy.

9. Cookies (for website use)

My website may use cookies to understand how it’s being used. You can disable cookies via your browser settings.
