This is something I feel deeply passionate about — because I lived it.

Let’s clear this up right now: ADHD isn’t a character flaw. It’s a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how we process tasks, focus, and regulate effort.

Here’s what research tells us:

👉 People with ADHD often have lower levels of dopamine, the chemical in your brain that helps with motivation, pleasure, and reward.
👉 That means tasks that seem "simple" to others — writing an essay, replying to an email, cleaning your room — can feel mentally impossible to start or finish.

This is called executive dysfunction — and it’s at the heart of why people with ADHD are often misunderstood.

💔 Why This Matters to Me

When I was in school, I was labeled “lazy” — even by teachers. I could explain the concepts out loud. I knew the material. But my knowledge didn’t always translate on paper. I’d leave assignments unfinished. I’d freeze at the start line, even when I cared so much.

The truth is: I wasn’t lazy. I was struggling with ADHD — and no one around me knew how to support that.

Now, as a mentor, I work with teens and young adults to make sure they don’t go through that alone.
